About Laura

So, I guess this is the part where I introduce myself, huh?  Well, I’m Laura B, pleasure to meet you.  A first-generation Cuban-American, college drop-out who grew up in a lower middle class broken home.  I have a superhero mom, a brilliant older sister, and have had a few male dogs over the years to counter balance the dangerously high levels of estrogen in our little Miami home.

I was raised to always work hard for what I want, and never to depend on anyone.  Growing up, I watched A LOT of Discovery Channel, and Animal Planet (my husband calls me Wikipedia as a result), and dreamt of traveling to all the corners of the Earth, though I was sure I would never be able to – they were “out of my [financial] league”.  Funny how the universe has a way of proving you wrong, huh?  Today, I am fortunate enough to be living, and working in Dubai, and traveling around the world to many of those places I used to dream of seeing.  Thanks Universe (feel free to replace my Universe with whichever God[s] you believe in – ALL ARE WELCOME)!

I’ve wanted to start a blog for a long time, but I never thought anyone would be interested in what I had to say.  I’m not an expert at anything, unless being clumsy is considered a skill.  I’m not a travel blogger, though I’d love to be.  I’m not a professional photographer, but I like to think that my Instagram skills are above average.  I don’t have any special recipes to pass along, but I’m really good at ordering take-out.  I AM, however, going to start this blog regardless.  So, welcome to the Adventures of Laura B, where I will be sharing my few travel adventures, my many misadventures, and a few things between.  Worst case scenario, no one ever reads it, and it becomes my public journal.  Best case scenario, a couple of people read it and find comfort in knowing that there is another human out on this planet who also feels lost sometimes, who goes through life wearing rose-colored glasses, because that’s the only way to survive some days, and who is just attempting to make a tiny positive dent in this big, scary world.

I hope you enjoy my little corner of the internet, and I hope to hear from you all as I begin this little blogging journey.
